Twiddling...
Trying out different blogger options. Added links to home and work public PGP keys to the template.

That was a pause.
Eagerly awaiting broadband. Since the last post I've suffered a disk failure and had to reinstall from scratch. XP seems more responsive now. Also invested in a Logitech QuickCam.
I expect to do some postings on the WScript/HTA stuff I'm developing at work. Some techies out there might find it interesting...

Bit the bullet and did an in-place upgrade from Win98 to XP Pro. Took 79 minutes on a PIII 1GHz. MS Office didn't work. Fortunately I ran the upgrade report from the XP CD before running the upgrade. Thus I already had XP compatible modem drivers ready when my modem showed up as 'not recognised'.
Very quiet in the office. tried to do some coding but got involved in doing database updates instead. Had a chance to look at Jon Udell's Blog
Need to have a look at RSS feeds, see if I can make up something locally.

A day doesn't always go the way you think.
Spent a lot of time archiving emails into zip files. Got an automated process up and running to collect the files and zip them overnight. Use the freeware version of zip from over at info-zip.
Restores went faster than I'd anticipated. Maybe Thursday's switch-over will be smother than I'd first thought.
Found out I'll have to go for active-passive clustering on Exchange2k, in order to support the potential concurrant MAPI connections we'll need.
Worked on integrating Sunrise with Active Directory. As Sunrise has no published scripting API, I'm using SendKeys. Works quite well, and may remove the need for the Sunrise contact database.
Thinking about the home XP upgrade, I find I have 20Gb of data on C:\. Not an easy backup job.
Must think of a way to compose this stuff offline, then post.

The end of another weekend.
Church was OK. Songs I didn't know, a good sermon. My eldest seems to be getting the hang of Sunday School, finally.
Felt @!£$% all day. Never mind, work tomorrow.
Going to try and post more regularly, some from home, some from work (lunchtime only, of course!). I'll try to speparate the tech stuff into another blogg. Maybe Squibbs.tech.blog or something original like that.
Anyway, been online too long as it is. The perils of paying by the minute for your internet access. Roll on ADSL, or cable, or wireless broadband, or something.
